The Diploma (Associate of Science Degree) in Business Administration – HRM concentration prepares students in the theoretical and applied aspects of managing human resources in organizations. Students are prepared to understand the importance of HR functions as essential supporters and drivers of organizational goals.

Program Educational Objectives

  1. Understand and apply the basic fundamentals of HRM
  2. Understand the nature of individual and group behavior within organizations and its influence on individual outcomes
  3. Apply instructional system design (ISD) processes for designing and developing training programs
  4. Identify and analyze the relevant global factors and their effect on human resource decision-making
  5. Apply effective analytical and critical-thinking skills in HR-related situations

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Acquire practical knowledge of various elements of HRM including job analysis, HR planning, recruitment and selection
  2. Define basic organizational behavior principles, and analyze how these behaviors facilitate or hinder employee’s job performance and commitment in the organization
  3. Understand how to conduct needs assessment, select appropriate learning and behavioral outcomes and design training curricula
  4. Recognize emerging global factors related to HR and its causes, effects and possible solutions
  5. Criticize and recommend the various sources of information used for personnel selection and retention decisions based on organizational need and environmental conditions.

Graduates in Human Resources Management will be equipped with the necessary skills to pursue their careers in HR Administration, Employee Relations, Employment, Performance Evaluation, and Training and Development. These jobs are abundant in all sectors and in medium and large organizations.

General Education Requirement (GEE) (9 credit hours):

Students must satisfy the requirements of the General Education as per the following conditions:

  1. Courses must be drawn from the Liberal Arts Department and from the General Education areas below (refer to the Liberal Arts Department section in the ACM Course Catalogue).
  2. The General Education areas are defined as:
    1. English Language and Communications Skills
    2. Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing
    3. Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing
    4. Interdisciplinary Ways of Knowing
  3. Courses may also be drawn from math, science, and professional selective courses as offered by ACM and with the Director's permission.
  4. Courses that are already required under another category other than General Education Elective cannot be considered as a GEE course.
  5. ACM has the right to advise a student on a specific course under the GEE category.
  6. ACM has the right to assign some of the credits in the "General Education Requirement (GEE)" which are to be considered as part of the degree requirements in the form of course(s) available in the course catalogue (other than existing courses in the GEE category) with the Director's approval. For example, Professional Selective Courses may be offered at ACM's discretion as mandatory selective courses and considered part of the degree requirements.
